My Email Etiquette

Here is a summary of how I respond to email. Feel free to copy or reuse any of this for your own etiquette!

  • I process email twice every business day. Once in the morning, and once at the end of the day. 
  • I respond to 90% of my email in one-business day, and 99% in two business days. If you haven't received a response by then, I am sick, injured, or on a business trip. 
  • I don't check email on weekends. Don't even try, I won't see it.
  • If urgent, you are welcome to text me at 317.969.5010 and use the word "URGENT." I will respond within an hour.
  • If this email is a conversation, I will call you.
  • I am short and to-the-point in most emails, please don't read anything into my emails. If you are concerned about something, you are welcome to ask me directly and I will give you a direct answer.
  • If you are on a Slack channel with me, I will shame you mercilessly for sending me an email instead of using Slack.
